Abstract :
One of the most challenging aspects related to smart grids refers to solutions and features that add the ability to prevent outage occurrences as well as to promote self-recovery after disturbance, isolating defects and restoring the power system through alternatives routes. The approaches related to Self-Healing in fault detection, system restoring, adaptability, reliability, security, sustainability, complexity, and cost reduction, have been discussed by many researchers through strategies, models and methods. Despite several studies and initiatives, true Self-Healing is far from a reality, even in the research vanguard countries. This study aims to evaluate the state of art of this concept and present a study case based on its application to the power transmission system operated by the Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais - Cemig GT, Brazil.
