Abstract :
Mobile IP (MIP) was created to enable users keeping the same IP address while traveling to a different network because the mobility function of MIP is performed on the network layer rather than the physical layer so that users can continue their connections without sessions or connections dropped and they remain similar to destination. Mobile IP is scalable for a large number of users and it is most often found in wireless WAN environments where users need to carry their mobile devices across multiple LANs with different IP addresses. In this paper, we have evaluated the performance of the DSDV routing protocol for Mobile IP using NS2 simulation program by calculating the performance metrics which are: Packet receive, Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), Packet Loss, Packet Loss ratio (LR), Throughput and End to End Delay (E2ED) through different simulation scenarios.
