Abstract :
User tends to reformulate query several times when the retrieved result is irrelevant or insufficient. This situation happened because the user is actually having difficulties to translate their information needs into a query that the search engine can fully maximized their algorithm. This problem arises not only in general information search but also in specific domain search. Heuristically we normally include the domain name when searching information in a specific domain. But to what extent is necessary to include the domain name in the query if we have other elements such as ontology terms and crop characteristic to be jointly used in formulating a query. Main purpose of this paper is to present evaluation of query reformulation using domain name, crop characteristic category and ontology elements for seeking information in a specific domain. The experimental result proved that domain name is very important in formulating query. A more important highlight in this experiment is the usage of domain name is best used when it is combined with the crop characteristic category and ontology terms.
