Abstract :
Applications using dielectric electro-active polymers (DE-EAP) tend to grow quickly due to their most interesting feature: when activated, displacements can reach ranges as high as 200-300%. How interesting this may be, the voltage to be applied is very high - 5 kV - and therefore difficult to handle and manage. Inductive contactless power transfer (ICPT) systems are elegant solutions to completely insulate the components subject to high voltage and therefore make them totally safe. Furthermore, as ICPT´s use transformers, the needed high voltages can be reached easily choosing the right turn number ratio. In this paper, two main topologies are designed, measured and compared.
