Abstract :
Analysis on operation characteristics of dual stator-winding induction generator (DWIG) wind power system under asymmetrical grid faults is elaborated in detail in the paper. The output dc voltage is maintained steady by the rapid flux-weakening control by the static excitation controller (SEC) on the control-winding side. Fault ride through operation is achieved by restraining input power from dc side and avoiding fluctuations with 2 times the grid frequency during asymmetric faults happen. Simulation results prove that DWIG wind power system has strong fault-ride-through capability without additional hardware equipment whether single phase or two phase grid asymmetric grid voltage drop.
