Abstract :
The hardware and control algorithms of low cost scheme for integrated dual AC motor drive system with the function of a rectifier to perform as single-phase on-board electric vehicles (EVs) integrated battery charger are presented in this paper. In the system, a five-leg inverter is proposed; two legs are for the auxiliary motor, three are needed for the main traction motor. Both motors are three phase open-end motors. So the four-switch three phase(FSTP) control scheme for the auxiliary motor is utilized and the two motors could be decoupled controlled under the FSTP scheme. At the same time, the main traction motor and the auxiliary motor together with the inverter are used to construct the charger circuit. So the onboard or off board standalone charger is eliminated. The dual AC motors are used as two inductors, the already available inverter of the two motors are used as an AC/DC converter. The integration of the motor and function of the motor controller/battery charger minimize costs, weight and overall size. The charger is bidirectional, allowing the charging and vehicle to grid(V2G) operation modes. The validity of developed concept is proved by an experimental setup based on TMS320F28335 DSP controller.
