Abstract :
The aim of this paper is to analyze the impact of EV deployment on the operational performance of the noninterconnected electricity grid of the Greek Island, Crete. This network analysis comprises two parts; the steady state analysis of the generation and transmission systems of Crete and the dynamic analysis of the power systems under high penetration levels of renewable energy sources (RES) and electric vehicles (EV). For the steady state analysis, a software tool analyzing hour-by-hour the power system of Crete is developed comprising two modules: the economic dispatch module for the generation system analysis and the Power flow analysis one for assessing the operational performance of the transmission system. The scope of this dynamic analysis is the investigation of the effect of EV in the dynamic behavior of the power systems under high levels of renewable energy sources in the event of critical disturbances.
