Abstract :
In recent decades there has been a wide spread of renewable energy system due to environmental demands. Consequently due to the nature of the renewable energy system, it is efficient to use distributed generation in electrical power system. Therefore, this paper articulates the energy efficiency of low voltage direct circulating (DC) distribution system. There are two case studies taken into consideration for efficiency calculation. First case is when alternating circulating (AC) power from main grid is converted to DC power and second case is when DC power from renewable energy source is directly used towards DC distribution. The efficiencies and power losses for both the cases are calculated and compared. It has been found that DC distribution following second case has higher efficiency than the first case.
