  • Abstract
This paper, which is part two of a two-part series, applies a technique for assessing control strategies for DSM in SGs by using reliability as a measure. The assessment methodology is presented and carried out in detail. This assessment is realised by using disaggregated load models. Two test networks (IEEE 14 bus and GSP radial) are used for simulations and to develop different DSM control strategies based on varying scenarios. Analytical calculations and Monte Carlo Simulation for the networks are carried out in this paper. Reliability indices (SAIDI, SAIFI, MAIFI and ENS) are used to evaluate the test networks. The networks supply a composition of three generic load sectors (residential, commercial and industrial) with varying demand compositions. This approach allows for a comparison of different networks and to develop the control strategy for demand-side management in smart grids. Future developments in smart grids according to the findings are highlighted.
