Abstract
Subtrochanteric fractures raise challenges for any type of internal fixation. The aim of this study is to evaluate retrospectively the outcome of 62 subtrochanteric fractures operated by MIPO technique using a dynamic condylar screw (DCS). According to Seinsheimer classification, there were recorded 4 fractures type IIB, 3 type IIC, 7 type IIIA, 8 type mB, 25 type IV and 15 type V The MIPO technique was simplified by the use of the two-part and two-plane alignment achieved by DCS. All fractures healed within a mean time of 12.2 weeks, There were registered 7 varus/valgus deformities above 5°, 4 leg length discrepancies over 15 mm and 1 malrotation of 20° The final outcome was excellent in 39 cases, satisfactory in 22 cases and unsatisfactory in 1 case. MIPO with DCS is still a reasonable alternative in these lessions, mainly for subtrochanteric fractures with trochanteric extension.
