Abstract :
The Parkinson´s disease is a neurodegenerative disease that occurs due to loss of a neurotransmitter called dopamine, leading to slow and inexorable destruction of neurons. Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) may be used for patients with Parkinson´s disease (PD) in order to control the tremor symptom. Studies show that after 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes or even longer (3 or 6 months), but over time, the tremor symptom reappears and the Deep Brain Stimulation procedure has to be restarted. A general purpose model of Parkinson´s disease prognosis based on Markov process is described in this paper. The paper presents the mathematical tool that can be used to generate accurate assessments of Parkinson´s disease stage and the DBS effects in time, and can be applicable in medical screening for patients with Parkinson´s disease.
