Abstract
A new type of Class DE inverter is proposed. The proposed circuit consists of two switches, a parallel resonant circuit, and a capacitor connected in series with the parallel resonant circuit. The proposed circuit shows two features mainly. First, the voltage stress of the switching devices is low. Second, the switch voltage and its derivative are zero at the switch turning on, therefore, the proposed circuit reduces switching losses. In the circuit experiments of the proposed circuit, the measured efficiency of the dc/ac power conversion was 93.2 % at the loaded quality factor Q = 5, the switching frequency 500 kHz, and the output power 0.336 W. The experimental results show good agreement with the theoretical performance.
