Abstract
Congestion control mechanisms are essential to stabilize the network system and provision quality of service. In this paper, we propose a robust congestion control scheme for time-delay and dynamic networks. First, a Smith predictor is used to compensate for time delay in the data transmission. Second, an active queue management controller is derived using internal model control theory for strong robustness. Third, we design a fuzzy-logic tuning rule to adapt the filter coefficient of the queue length controller to the time-varying network dynamics. We evaluate the performance of our proposed algorithm in the Network Simulator (NS2). The results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm is robust against time delay and dynamic traffics.
