Abstract :
In this paper, 1× 8 phased array of wideband and wide scanning properties is presented. The bandwidth of the element is enhanced by utilizing the SIW cavity-back structure. And the scanning range is enlarged with the element spacing (d) reduced and conformal format adopted. It turns out that the bandwidth is enhanced to 2.1GHz while the normal microstrip antenna´s bandwidth is 0.41GHz, and the scanning range is expanded by 18° compared to the plane array with d= 0.52λ. As a result, the designed array can steer its main beam from -72° to +72° with 2.1GHz bandwidth at 32GHz, which is superior to the traditional phased array with normal microstrip element.
