Abstract
Summary form only given. The paper focuses on the economic-based valuation of patents. This income approach asks what investors are willing to pay for an asset with a given (maybe even uncertain) income stream in the future. To value an asset using the income approach requires a good projection of future income or cash-flows and choice of a discount rate. Income-based methods are generally considered to be the only valid and accepted methodologies to value intellectual property today
