Abstract
This paper provides a methodology for power system transient stability (TS) analysis based on single machine equivalent (SIME) method that is a mixture between two methods, which are time-domain (TD) simulation and equal-area criterion (EAC). The investigated method allows us to classify the multi-machine system in two groups: critical machines (CMs) and non-critical machines (NMs), which are reduced in only one machine infinite bus system (OMIB). The global system stability is determined through the equal area criterion (EAC). This study has been carried out on WSCC (Western System Coordinated Council) 9 buses, 3 machines network. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been discussed and compared to a classic method based on time domain simulation (TD).
