Abstract
Summary form only given. Complex and comprehensive information technology infrastructures support the firm´s communication networks, databases, and operating-systems. IT infrastructure capabilities underpin the competitive positioning of business initiatives such as cycle time reduction, implementing redesigned cross-functional processes, utilizing cross-selling opportunities and capturing the channel to the customer. A system-dynamic model of a hypothetical firm has been constructed in this study. The goal is to investigate effects of information technologies on functions of a firm in a supply chain. The effects of the information technologies used in order processing, inventory management, advertisement, and purchasing business processes are investigated. The basic parameters of the firm on which we want to see the effects of these information technologies are procurement decision, inventory management, demand forecast, fulfillments, and net income. Our primary aim is not to get optimum procurement amount, but to observe the behaviour of the system
