Abstract :
To cope with the continued increase in global hydrogen demand in an eco-friendly and sustainable way, stand-alone photovoltaic hydrogen production system (SAPV/H2) based on an optimal energy and hydrogen management strategy (EHMS) is proposed for a simulation study. Battery is used as an energy buffer to support the electrolyser operation. This simulation study refers to the analysis of the system sensitivity to the variations of battery depth of discharge (DOD) and in particularly low values from 50 to 20%. Results show that reducing the DOD value in order to increase the battery lifetime induces a decrease in the amount of produced hydrogen and consequently reduces the system efficiency.
