Abstract :
This research is focused on the study of the product development workflow of an ancient civilization through digital technologies, with the purpose of creating novel design patterns and methodologies, to be used in modern production. Changsha Kiln is the civilization considered, the most representative of Hunan region of China. The idea behind this research, funded by a Chinese National Project, is to use digital 3D acquisition and virtual representation to capture not only the shapes of the objects taken into consideration, but somehow the general cultural pattern subtending Kilns artifacts, in order to repropose them in novel industrial designs.
