  • Abstract
    A ferromagnetic based variable inductor analysis and design methodology is proposed in this paper. This methodology allows predicting the behavior of the designed element simply. The variable inductor fundamentals are detailed as well the proceeding to determine the material relative permeability. The methodology presents a direct relation between the control winding current variation and the main variable inductance distinct relative values. A variable inductor particular structure prototype is built. Finally the results have presented 3.12% error between the experimental prototype and the proposed general equation design methodology.
