Abstract :
In this paper, we present a modified overlap coefficient of documents with an asymmetric similarity. The asymmetric similarity reflects the relation of inclusion between documents. We implement the asymmetric similarity on an adaptive personal information filtering system, which we refer to "INformation filtering system Sorting items in Order of user\´s Priority", INSOP. INSOP calculates the values of items, which represent the users\´ interests. Our purpose is to reduce the number of items that we should read by selecting the representative items from the set of similar documents. Our primary experiment suggests that the asymmetric similarity is a useful measure of document similarity for INSOP
