Abstract :
Using of content delivery network (CDN) is one solution for video streaming but it is costly. Hybrid CDN-P2P video streaming over the Internet is a developing technology that recently has gained attention by network and content providers. One of the main limitations of such systems is inadequate resources, such as upload bandwidth, that leads to reduce the quality experienced by the users. Due to the churn issue in P2P networks, renting fixed number of servers from a CDN provider can be costly. With emerging and developing of cloud services by public cloud providers, it seems dynamically renting the streaming servers is more efficient from cost and performance point of view. In this paper, we have proposed layered upload bandwidth Cloud-P2P architecture and an algorithm for live video streaming in which the rented virtual machines (VM) are dynamically added and removed to/from the P2P overlay network to provide the required level of Quality of Service (QoS) in a cost efficient manner. Our simulation evaluation shows the efficiency of the proposed allocation algorithm.
