Abstract :
A novel method based on the winding inductance variation is proposed which can estimate the rotor position within a maximum error of plus or minus 7.5 in electrical degrees and start the BLDCM afterwards. This means uses voltage pulses generated in two-phase and three-phase conduction modes to identify the rotor position, and combines voltage vectors to deliver a proper torque. Experiments on a sample BLDCM prove the feasibility of this new method.
