Abstract :
In this paper, implementation of a signal generator on smart phones using Android is described. The signal generator generates time-varying signals like sine, sawtooth and square waves of variable frequencies from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz through the audio (earphone) port of the smart phone. These signals generated from the smart phone can be used to power circuits in emergency when the traditional signal generators in the lab are absent. An output detector is also implemented on the smart phone using the microphone port as an interface between the circuit and the phone.
