Virtual Classroom for Effective Learning in IT Industry

The most important educational initiative in organizations and universities is the move towards Online Learning. Faculty world-wide are trying out new methods for asynchronously delivering training, attempting to enhance the possibility that students will "discover their own motivation, their own authenticity, their own relation to the subject matter" (Farber 137). Virtual Classroom (VCR) is one of the ways of providing virtual education. A "Virtual Classroom" is a teaching and learning environment where communication happens via internet. There are a number of software tools which can be used to enhance teaching and learning activities. These tools provide the standard features of a computerized conferencing system to produce a prototype Virtual Classroom. In this paper, we demonstrate that learning via the mode of VCR can be effective, by the right use of technology, people, process and infrastructure. It provides the advantages of classroom learning as well as virtual learning. It can lead to better utilization of resources and time. This paper provides an analysis of VCR vs the traditional classroom.
