Abstract :
XG-PON is doubtlessly the next standard to rule PON architectures. FTTC/B deployments will greatly benefit from its increased data rates at both downstream and upstream directions, given that a high-capacity aggregation system resides at the XG-PON leaves (ONUs), aggregating hundreds of copper-based A/VDSL subscribers to the 10Gbps uplink. In this paper, we present the architecture and implementation of such an aggregation system and demonstrate its capabilities in the context of a WDM-overlayed XG-PON architecture.
