Abstract
A fractional order capacitor of desired specification can be realised by dipping a capacitive type probe, coated with a porous film of polymer of particular thickness, into a polarizable medium [1]. The aim of this work is to identify all the parameters responsible for the impedance of the fractional order capacitor and then to find a relationship between the fractional exponent, its corresponding fractional co-efficient and those parameters. Parameters which play significant role are thickness of coating, size of the pores, pore size distribution, number of pores per unit area and type of polarizing medium. Factors which may affect the value are area of contact of the electrode with the medium, speed of the rotor and the property of the polymer.
