Abstract
In this paper, a Linear Feedback Shift Register (LFSR), designed using MOS Current Mode Logic (MCML) is presented. Three different implementations of LFSR based on the three design methodologies of MCML D-Latch (D-Latch using traditional MCML style, D-Latch using switch-based MCML tri-state buffers and D-Latch using low power MCML tri state buffers) are realized. All simulations are performed in PSpice using 0.18μm TSMC CMOS technology parameters. We have explored the different implementations of MCML based LFSR in terms of power consumption and power supply switching current. Further, the comparison of MCML based LFSR with the CMOS based LFSR was carried out. It was found that the MCML based LFSR is superior to the CMOS based LFSR, both in terms of power consumption and switching current.
