Abstract
This article provides information and data on higher education institutions in Brazil, relating them to digital repositories. Highlights the Higher Education in the State of Bahia focused on University of Bahia (UNEB). It aims to demonstrate how the implementation of the Institutional Repository of this University can contribute to the empowerment of the academic community and society in general.
