Abstract :
This paper summarizes the results of a recent major project to examine the various stability aspects of the SCECO interconnected power grid using the transient energy function (TEF) method. The effects of network reduction and relative location of the contingency are investigated in regard to the impact on the resulting transient stability security limit. In addition, the paper investigates the effect of different system operating parameters on the dynamic security of the system. The impact of relaxing the system voltage limits on security limits and, consequently, on total system production cost is also demonstrated
