Abstract :
This paper presents the analysis and design of a dual side linear switch reluctance machine (LSRM) which incorporates a simple annular winding and concrete segmentations. The annular winding is wound around the translator yoke with the downer and upper slot belonging to the same phase. The presented machine has been proven to feature high reliability and low cost for long distance linear transmission system such as ropless elevator. The performances of the machine in terms of inductance characteristics, statistic torque profile and normal force are evaluated and compared to the well-known teethed type linear switch reluctance machines.
