Abstract
Transverse flux permanent magnet machine (TFPMM) has outstanding characteristics of large torque and arbitrarily set pole-number. Multifarious TFPMM topologies have been proposed to enhance the space utilization and the flux density. This paper presents a TFPMM with double Ω-hoop stator, which is laminated by traditional steel sheets. The construction of the machine has all space occupied by efficacious materials, which stretches far beyond double-side TFPMMs. The electromagnetic characteristics and operation principles are analysed. Benefited from the compact structure this machine is suitable for wind power and electric vehicle applications.
