Abstract :
Use of power electronic converters with nonlinear loads produces harmonic currents and reactive power. An active power filter will only provide the solution for these two problems by giving the compensating current to the supply time to time. However, the shunt active power filter with PI type of controller is suitable only for a given load. If the load is varying, the proportional and integral gains are required to be fine tuned for each load setting. The present study deals with artificial intelligent controllers viz. fuzzy logic based controller and neuro fuzzy controller for active filter. The advantage of introducing neuro fuzzy over PI and fuzzy logic controller is reported step by step with simulation results.
