Abstract :
Multicarrier modulation systems have become a fast growing field in the modern communication field. The most popular multicarrier modulation technique, OFDM has low bandwidth efficiency due to the insertion of cyclic prefix and poor spectral containment and high narrow band interference due to the use of IFFT. Therefore Filter bank based multicarrier systems using cosine modulated filter bank has been proposed as an alternative approach to OFDM technique. The prototype filter for the CMFB systems are developed using lowpass Kaiser window from which the entire filter bank can be developed. High PAPR is a main issue in every multicarrier system. Techniques like Non Linear Companding such as A law and μ law Companding and Raised Cosine Pulse shaping are applied to the FBMC system in this paper. The performance of these techniques based on their CCDF plot and BER plot are evaluated. It is seen that Raised Cosine Pulse shaping gives a PAPR reduction of 9.130 dB and it outperforms all the other methods.
