Abstract :
This paper presents a microcontroller based monitoring system with user´s remote localization, the integration of Global Positioning System (GPS), Global System for Mobile (GSM) and a Heart Rate (HR) Sensor. This integration outcome is a system that would be able to monitor the pulse rate of a person, in terms of beats-per-minute (BPM) that is engaged in an activity as well as the person´s location. Using the reflective optical sensor as Heart Rate Monitor, the system will be able to determine the physiological statistics of the user. The data acquired by the monitoring system will then be examined by the emergency algorithm while the GPS Receiver will be used in determining the location of the user doing the activity. Moreover, the GSM is the one responsible for the transmission of user´s GPS coordinates from the Microcontroller to Emergency contact of the user.
