Combining eye based features for biometric system

This paper proposes simple yet novel method which combines sclera and periocular features associated with eye for a biometric verification system. As the system is associated with two features, it is a multimodal biometric system. It is an attempt to prove that the sclera texture and the vasculature patterns on its surface may be considered as an ocular biometric trait. The sclera as a biometric trait is relatively new exposure in the biometrics literature. In this paper attention is paid particularly to sclera feature extraction. The periocular feature extraction and identification will be used as complementary to sclera identification.
