Abstract :
Every company always improve its competitiveness, especially in reducing all sources of waste. PT. X is a major national company in Indonesia which concerned in the food processing industry with one of the main featured products is dried vermicelli. The effective use of machines is the main concern to achieve the production target and minimize the waste. Relating to these problems, the purpose of this study is to measure the effectiveness of extrusion-cutting machine in the manufacturing process of dried vermicelli production in PT. X using Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) indicator. Field observation and interview methods are used to collect data. The data are then processed to obtain OEE value for extrusion-cutting machine. From the calculation of OEE value, it is clear that the machine in the extrusion-cutting has low OEE values at around 64% to 77% and far under the OEE world standard value of 85%.
