Abstract :
This paper in detail presents the electromagnetic and RF behavior of gridless reltron. CST particle studio which is a commercially available 3D-PIC simulation code is used to study the beam-wave interaction behavior. Analytical investigation of the reltron modulating cavity is carried out. The modulating cavity has three different modes, i.e., 0, π/2 and π in accordance with their electric field patterns. The desired mode of operation inside the cavity is π/2. An energy transfer phenomenon from beam to RF is explained to understand the operating principle of reltron. Beam present simulation is performed in order to investigate the RF behavior of electrons in the gridless reltron.
