Abstract :
This paper describes a film-to-video converter that improves the motion portrayal of film material on high definition (HD) TV sets. To reduce the cost of motion estimation on HD resolution pictures, we use sub-sampled pictures to determine motion vectors. The motion vectors are then post-processed and used for up-conversion. A novel method of post-processing and up-conversion is introduced to obtain a high quality output.
