Abstract :
Traditional CATV networks are growing into two-way multimedia networks. In recent years cable providers are trying to offer multiple services over a single network. Internet access, high-speed data transfer, video on demand, and games are some of the applications driving this trend. The problem of delivering new services over CATV networks is characterised by certain infrastructure investments, and the possibilities of upgrading existing CATV networks analysed. The article describes the development of techniques and technologies applied in modern two-way interactive CATV systems.
