Abstract :
In a CDMA system, the reverse coverage varies based on the traffic load of the studied cell and its neighboring cells, and causes imbalance between forward and reverse coverage which degrades the system performance. The hierarchical cell structure is popular in the design of the cellular system. This paper presents a breathing function algorithm to achieve the balance between the coverage of the reverse and forward for the HCS (hierarchical cell structure). Simulation results show that the algorithm can adjust the traffic load among cells and improve the system performance in a service area.
