Abstract
Biometrics represents the most secure way to identify individuals because it provides a novel approach to recognize the identity, or verify the claimed identity through a unique, highly reliable and robust physical characteristic or personal trait. This paper summarizes briefly the biometric identification technique, discusses in detail the identification principle, characteristics, and advantages and disadvantages of different methods. The prospects and development of those methods are also analyzed.
