Potential of WiMAX system deployment in Serbia & Montenegro [MicroBusiness]

Institutional reforms and liberalization of the telecommunications sector in Serbia have been accomplished during the last three years in compliance with modern, internationally accepted standards. Intensive activities aimed towards technological modernization of Serbian telecommunications are under way, including WiMAX systems which are an attractive solution for realizing new broadband access networks and a way to limit monopoly of a single existing fixed line operator (incumbent operator Telecom Serbia, TS). In this article, the current state of WiMAX implementation in Serbia and experience gained from WiMAX implementation in Montenegro are presented.
