Abstract
This paper presents an efficient parallel implementation scheme of parallel-in-time Newton algorithm for transient stability analysis. Overlapping technique and nonblocking message passing mode are employed to reduce the wait time to a minimum. As a result, the proposed implementation scheme can produce high speedup gain and parallel efficiency results, especially when a large degree of parallelism-in-time is adopted. Test case simulations are performed for two large-scale power systems on an IBM-SP2 multicomputer. Higher speedups than previously reported for transient stability analysis are obtained.
