Abstract
The proposed four quadrant back-to-back HVDC link uses a DC voltage pulse reinjection concept, that shapes the voltage and current waveforms into a multi-level scheme, thus controlling their harmonic content without the assistance of harmonic filters or pulse width modulation. The switching rate is considerably reduced and results in lower switching losses.
