Abstract
This paper describes an experiment that evaluates performance of estimating the locations of mobile terminals using array antennas placed at a high altitude. We attached two array antennas to the bottom of a helicopter and estimated the angles of impinging signals from a terminal as the reference point and a mobile terminal. By changing the distance between the terminals, we compared the estimated angles with the true ones corresponding to the distances between the terminals. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can be used for estimation of mobile locations in the high altitude platform stations.
