  • Abstract
Clinical angiographic diagnostics of the hemodynamics of arterial aneurysms are recorded with limited, if any, control over most of the significant physical parameters affecting the outcome of the recorded image sequence. For instance blood flow rate and pressure, aneurysm and arterial geometry and orientation, are all dictated. The contrast media injection characteristics and angiograph recording rate and orientation are controllable by the clinician, but rarely are done so in a manner to facilitate quantitative data analysis of the images. A technique is presented here to effectively normalize clinical angiographic data for the purpose of objectively comparing various treatment modalities of cerebral aneurysms. The modeling highlights the relative change to the contrast media injection wave to evaluate the treatment effectiveness. This methodology is particularly relevant for the evaluation of treatment with coiling or aneurysms which are difficult to image. Only small cross-sections of the artery upstream and downstream of the aneurysm are required.
