Abstract
The production of magnetic fields from single pole encapsulated switchgear installations is significantly determined by the propagation of sheath currents on the encapsulation. This paper outlines investigations concerning the creation of sheath currents, concerning their distribution on the encapsulation as well as their influence on the resulting magnetic fields caused by the switchgear. Numerical simulations on the basis of the method of moments were performed which take into account the induction of sheath currents and which were used to calculate magnetic field distributions in the vicinity of single-pole encapsulated switchgear. The numerical data were compared with results obtained by measurements at real switchgear installations.
