Abstract :
The development of the photonic sensors for electromagnetic field measurements is presented. The first applications were limited to telemetry only. An advantage of photonic sensors is the preserved spectral and phase information. An improvement in the sensors´ sensitivity is illustrated with a Mach-Zehnder interferometer and internal FM modulation of a laser with heterodyne detection. A concept of the sensor with a Fabry-Perot filter as a wideband frequency discriminator is introduced.
