Abstract
We propose an efficient multiple description coder using a newly modified embedded zerotree wavelet (EZW) coding method. We use an expanded threshold and two subordinate passes. We then present a multiple description encoder with two channels using an overlapped threshold. To evaluate the performance of our proposed encoder, we apply our method to image compression.
